Recognising and
Overcoming Forces of Evil
Overcoming Curses
Curses—deliberate ill wishing through words and actions against another person, creature, or place—are never justifiable. However, they can be understandable in situations where a victim feels helpless, is being held hostage, is imprisoned by an unfair regime, or is in a situation where the vulnerable are being abused and no one will listen.
In mediaeval times, and in some instances up to Victorian times, magic was the only recourse for the brutally treated and often sexually exploited servant girl turned out of doors for being raped by the squire’s son and becoming pregnant, or the older woman who had her home taken away by a ruthless landlord because her husband, who worked the land in return for a cottage, had died. Even today in some parts of the world, minorities, and especially women, are suppressed and again may resort to magic as their only defense. Binding and banishing are strong and more positive substitutes, and cursing, however seemingly justifiable, rebounds sooner or later on the curser.
Yet we can all curse carelessly though not unconsciously; addressing someone with profanity is a curse. Every time we do it, we experience jealousy, fury, or resentment—however justified—and bounce those feelings back at the cause, who may or may not be guilty, and then we send out negativity. These malicious thoughts do not leave us but flood our aura, making us, after the initial euphoria has gone, feel bitter, soured, and often depressed.
Am I Cursed?
If things are going wrong in your life, you have not necessarily been cursed, though continuing misfortune may make you feel as though you have. Almost always the person who has cursed you will let you know; malicious e-mails or social media attacks are the modern version of leaving a dead chicken at your door and are equally nasty.
Unless you have several of the following factors in play, then most likely you are locked in a cycle of misfortune rather than being cursed. You can try binding or banishing magic to reverse the trend, followed by shielding against further bad luck.
If you get sudden stabbing pains around your heart or in your temples and you have no other physical symptoms (and if these persist, get them checked medically), then the ill-wishing person may be thinking of you and fuming over some imagined wrongdoing or injustice. Sudden pins and needles, again without any obvious cause, can also be a symptom of someone physically or emotionally sticking pins in an image of you or simply sending out psychological needles of spite.
When everything should be and has been going right, if computers or tablets suddenly malfunction; if mobile phones won’t connect; if e-mails don’t reach their destination (technology is remarkably sensitive to bad vibes); if you lose things when normally you are very careful; if you, family members, or pets have a series of minor accidents and unexplained and persistent illnesses; if you feel spooked and like you are being watched; or if you suddenly lose confidence and concentration, then you may have been ill wished, cursed, or had the evil eye put on you or loved ones.
